Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with engineering staff on geomechanics consulting projects.
  • Review geotechnical investigations and monitoring data to support mining projects.
  • Provide technical guidance, strategic direction and mentorship to the mine geomechanics team
  • Actively contribute and perform numerical modeling, analyze results, and effectively communicate results to clients.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate geotechnical considerations into overall project design.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals including work scopes, and estimation of schedule and costs.
  • Actively participate in business development (seeking new consulting projects and clients).
  • Assist software developers in improving Itasca modeling software.
  • Be self-directed, managing and completing projects on time and on budget.
  • Travel as required to visit client sites, participate in project meetings and attend conferences.

Job Requirements:

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Geological, Geotechnical, Geomechanics, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geophysics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with numerical modeling, with a minimum of three (3) years of experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Field experience and familiarity with Itasca software preferred.
  • Relevant experience as a Geological, Geotechnical, Mining, Civil, Rock Mechanics, Geomechanics Engineer/Specialist, or in a related position preferred.
  • Registered or qualified to register with a relevant professional association.
